Re: California grass strips

Some of you fellas scared me into believing I was loosing more of my memory than I thought I was.
Had to check the San Francisco sectional just to be sure, and sure enough, the Meadowlark, that I know of, is still there. It is located south and east of Livermore, Ca. Never had but one old (immaculate) Jenny on it. The owner, Jim Nissen, used to fly it into the Watsonville Air Show in the 80s. He was the person who started the San Jose Airport way back when.

Occasionally memory serves me better than I remember. =D>

It is better to be late in this world, than early in the next.

Re: California grass strips

This is where Meadowlark used to be. Can you name the year of the sectional? And do you know how many airfields are no longer existing on this image? This was my first ever chart I was 16 years old when I bought it.

Here's another interesting link http://www.airfields-freeman.com/CA/Airfields_CA_OrangeCo_NW.htm#meadowlark

I remember Meadowlark and a few others when I was a kid. I used to be a beach bum during the summers when I was a kid and HB was the place we'd hang out. I remember passing by Meadowlark many times and drooling.

Found this link, too. http://www.l16.com/index.shtml Looks like the Meadowlark Airport Bums still get together :D

Yet another great link with some great pictures: http://bannerbob.net/Meadowlark.htm http://www.bannerbob.net/
