I'd argue that no matter what paper/website news agency, it's a crap shoot whether an aviation event will be reported well, and it's all about the individual doing the reporting. I've seen some fairly good stories, and a lot of bad ones. Sometimes they read like they're written for pilots, but most often they're written for the layman. I'm not sure it's indicative of the state of journalism, or a waning interest in aviation.

Is that a good thing? One of the things the FAA is good for is ensuring the standards of maintenance, but this industry is one its knees as it is, with prices at an all time high for overhauls and work, likely due in part to insurance costs.
Good story, and good job on bringing it down in one piece. I about spewed beer though with the "hair loom" bit.

Absolutely the best advice, no matter what you're flying, no matter what the circumstances, emergency or not. Giving up is a killer--or at the least, a great way to seriously damage an airplane.Never stop flying.
