Cast 310 Fork for 182.Can the cast fork be a log book entry?

This is my new fork. I can install a HD fork with a log book entry on my 182, but can I do that with the cast version 310 fork? Those casting lines make it look much different than the heavy duty option.

Also, is a field approval or any other than a log book entry needed to add 8.00 to the mains of a 182? I was under the impression I could just install them without have fsdo come check it out. Thanks for the info. I know there has been a lot on this topic but Im still having a hard time getting all the facts.

The log book entry should state the part number in the IPC. I would "repair" by blending the tabs off, the inner casting marks (will then allow a 700 tire) and clean up the outer casting marks while your at it. Look at the IPC again for the 800x6s or the POH for the tires.
