Cessna 170 owners

Seeing as I have my airplane on the market, the 170 will likely not be in my life much longer, and I won't delude myself to think I would continue to ponder the inner workings of the aircraft. Some of you know that I've started a C170 type documentation site, but have yet to get very far on it. I offered to gift it to the C170 Association but they seem to have turned their noses up at it, and some over there even seem to view it as some sort of competitive venture. If you're not with them, you're against them I guess.

It's my opinion that a knowledge base for an airplane can exist with minimal funding, no dues, no club, nothing. Just a few knowledgeable enthusiasts who value the knowledge above all, and one person to moderate consensus (easier said than done!)

If you're interested in taking over on this website, contact me. It would be great if it was a BCP member.

Did they at least reply as to why they turned their noses up at it? Seems like it would be a great benefit to their club members.

I love to volunteer others to service, I call Mike Vivion to the table. He already owns a 170. :D

Hi Zane,

I have neither the time or expertise to operate such a website but I am curious as to what it takes. How much computer skill would one need to manage a site like that? Special training? Go take some computer classes? or could you explain the inner workings of it over a few beers and off goes the new guy looking like an expert?

It's rather easy once you get the hang of it. All web-based like editing posts in a forum. There is some code but it's rather rudimentary.

Well, that's the whole beauty of a wiki. It's not a forum, so you don't have to wade through a bunch of discussions and opinion crap to get your answers. It's documentation.

But yeah, you can ban Bill and Pat if you want. :P
