Cessna 180 Missing in Prince William Sound - Alaska

KTUU in Anchorage is reporting a Cessna 180 missing in the Prince William Sound. I can personally tell you that there isn't anywhere pretty in the PWS to ditch a plane; pretty ragged terrain. Hoping that 121.5 ELT works out for the pilot...

Update: "The weather in the area includes blowing snow and 200 yards of visibility, according to the Coast Guard."

They have been practicing mid air refueling in the valley for the past week. Watched them feed a couple Blackhawks today.

180 still not found as of 8am ADT today. I saw a Blackhawk being mid air refueled in the Lake George area yesterday evening.

AP reported that a duffle bag and a "flight maneuvers illustrator" were found. Not looking good...

As reported in the ADN today:

Carlson’s family told the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman they plan to use any memorial donations to buy GPS devices for new pilots.

Interesting that his plane is presumed to have sunk but he was found on-shore. I wont make any assumptions about how he got there, but it would be interesting to know what his cause of death was; injuries, hypothermia, drowning? Also, we won't know what caused his engine roughness, but with the conditions he was flying in, intake icing sure would seem feasible.

Glad to see the family continuing the support of aviation.
