Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

cessna gear leg STC

Today I was perusing the FAA online library looking at available STC's for the C180, and happened upon #SA01756NY. It is for the installation of all Cessna 180 gear legs p/n's 0741001-1 through 0741001-8 on the Cessna 170, 170A, and 170B, and also on the Cessna 180. It also includes p/n's 054118-2 & -3, which I'm guessing are the later-model non-symmetrical 170 gear legs (lady legs?).
I googled the STC number, and came up with a short discussion on this website back in 2011 which indicated Eric Leclerc / QCR Aviation of Quebec held that STC. Interestingly, the STC holder is now listed as the Int'l C170 Assn-- I just checked their website and could find no mention of that STC on their online store or anywhere else. Does anyone know anything about this-- is it free to members, sold to members only, or sold to just anyone?

Re: cessna gear leg STC

hotrod180, I just checked the 170 Assoc web site. The transfer of the Stc was completed on Dec 3 rd. The club president posted that they were working on a pricing structure at that time. You could probably contact the club secretary in Cody, WY to see if they have it worked out. I do not know if you have to be a member, probably not but there could be a price difference based on the purchasers membership status, it did sound like there would be a charge though.

Re: cessna gear leg STC

I used Eric's STC to upgrade the early gear on my 170 about five years ago. It was a couple hundred dollars back then and came with really nice bound paperwork. The STC is very practical as it allows just about any 170, 180, or 185 gear legs to be installed on any 170, or 180. The only new items that the STC requires is fasteners.
As far as the 170 Associations policy and ability to issue the STC, Follow Tims advice.

If you have any questions about the STC itself, shoot me a PM, I've got all the paperwork here at home.

Re: cessna gear leg STC

EZ's gear legs are for a 172 t/w conversion. They sound nice (aluminum, gun-drilled for brake lines, whatever) but they're not germane to my needs. I have a 53 180 with later model 180/185 gear,I need to document the installation & I'm just kinda sorting out my options.
