Cessna Horizontal Stab Leading Edge STC

I was browsing my logbook the other day and remembered an STC that I have not seen discussed here. It is not in the Knowledge Base list of mods, so I have included that information and the links for inclusion.

This is a replacement leading edge for the horizontal stabilizer that screws on, rather than riveting. I believe it is thicker than the stock leading edge, mine is .040. The benefit is easy replacement in the event of damage, and if it is in fact thicker than perhaps a bit of preventative medicine as well. Mine was put on by the STC owner before I bought it, so I don't have any of those details.

Anyone else have this?

Modification: Screw On Leading Edge Kit for Horizontal Stabilizer
Applicability: 180/182/185/206/207
STC Number: SA02323AK for 100 series, SA02298AK for 200 series
STC Holder: Tanalian Aviation

Handy information Prosaria. I was jsut about to have a flush patch installed on mine, but now I will consider this as a good option. How is the fit and finish of the installation?

I've heard of it and think I got something in the mail from the STC holder probably 20 years ago. Looked like a good idea to me.

It looks seamless, I doubt anyone would notice if they weren't looking for it. I think the screw heads are countersunk, but I can't recall.

Good idea, but it sounds like an ideal candiate for metal to metal bonding, No removal of existing skin, no drilling out rivets and goobering up the holes, no new holes to drill,, no screw holes to leak water into the structure.

Sand off paint, mask off all openings, perform the correct Alumiprep/Alodine surface conversion process, appply adhesive, install and tape new skin doublers in place.
