Cessna Owners Organization ?

Anyone here a member?
I have been thinking about joining, there is a $48 per year fee.
Curious if this is a worth while organization.

Re: Cessna Owners Organization ?

You would be better off to spend that $ 48.00 a year on a membership in the EAA !!! Been there , done that !!! my opinion !

Like Bill, I belong and think it is very worth it for all of the technical stuff. Their tech library is awesome. I will be attending their c-182 seminar this March in Santa Maria. I hear it is great.

Re: Cessna Owners Organization ?

I belong to both the Cessna Pilot's Association (CPA) and the Cessna Owners Organization (COO) and will always renew my CPA membership before my COO membership. CPA has all of the technical resources and do the outstanding monthly magazine, the forums, technical issues, and a weekly e-letter. COO has a nice magazine.

Re: Cessna Owners Organization ?

I am a CPA member, but probably won't renew. That organization is great IF you own a Cessna 182 or a 210. They really focus and have a LOT of information on those models.

But, if you own any other Cessna type, particularly one of the older ones, you won't get much out of this organization.

Re: Cessna Owners Organization ?

There is a lot of difference in Cessna groups. I did belong to Cessna Owner for a time, but didn't get anything out of it because it was a for profit organization. The same is true with Cessna Pilot Association (CPA), but didn't renew because it was too dominated by a few "know it all" types. "running a tank dry" did me in. I like free. Cessna Pilots Society (CPS) is free and full of really good people who love flying, but they do not have a technical person per say, however there are a lot of knowledgeable members who will chime in. Cessna Flyer Association (based in Waupaca, WI) is another "for profit" organization which I belong to, (and write for) but it let the driving force in the day to day "get it done" person go. He went to a better job with EAA. So it has suffered through the past many months without a operating forum and that is very important for members to communicate. I haven't been there in quite some time, but the Cessna Owners Organization also had a very inactive forum the last time I looked.
I do not spend a lot of time on line and don't chime in here much either, so take this with a grain of salt, but salt can spice things up.
