I have a 1967 Cessna 180H with stock landing gear and wheels that I would like to replace the brake lines on. Does anyone have a list of fittings and Aeroquip hose length that works well with this MLG/wheel/brake installation?

I recently saw this plane in person. The entire thing is immaculate and very thoughtfully detailed. The only reservation I had about the brake line channel was that it would interfere with the way I jack up the gear for ski change-overs. But I suppose if you have a plane this nice, you probably also have a hangar and an overhead hoist.

I had done this to my C170. It did look cool, but as mentioned, was a real pain in the arse to jack the aircraft. Also, adhesive was a bit of a pain. Never tried dbl stick tape like Rob mentioned. Im debating on doing it again on the Skywagon project.

How would you jack your 180/185 with the rubber brake line extrusion? Seems like it would be difficult to clamp a gear leg adapter with that rubber on the back edge.

I use that white rubber channel, however instead of gluing it i simply attached it with two zip ties. Even though the gear leg is tapered the zip ties with the stainless locks hold well and stay put. If you carefully shape the brake line to the same arch as the gear leg and use white zips, it looks ok. At least then you can snip the zip ties and slip the jack pad between the rubber channel and the gear leg when you need to jack the plane.

Place the jack under the ski axle?

In today's day and age, a gear clamp adapter is a poor choice for jacking at best, a hazardous one to both the mechanic and aircraft at worst. Either of these, or better yet lifting rings would be much better choices.

Any of these choices allow for the aircraft to wiggle and move with no risk, allows for oops bumps without risk, and allows for jacking with a brake line protector in place.
