CGS Hawk at 11,200

Nice calm day to take the flying go cart up to 11,200. My highest landing yet on skis.

Nice! About 35' below 10 K is my best here in Idaho. You're getting your money's worth out of that antique Hawk for sure, or maybe it's a newer version?

Blue head 582. I bought the kit in 2005, built it to within 98% within months, then it sat for years other than running the engine now and then. Learned to fly in 2016, with 96 hours total time and 2.7 tailwheel, I took it up in on New Years Eve 2016. I've had it up to 13,700, flew it to Wyoming to go camping in June of 2017, put skis on it last year.
Its a flying go-cart, come home after work, put in ear plugs and go fly!

No cabin heat I assume....but at least a enclosure to keep the wind off. Every single time I pull the knob for cabin heat in the S-7S, I remember my open cockpit ultralight days (winter, above 10 K) and am thankful!

Re: CGS Hawk at 11,200

No cabin heat. Its not bad, when I fly the 180 in this terrain i dress to be able to survive a ditching. I have flown it in as cold as -24F, my girlfriend bought me a pair of battery heated socks, that helps.

The skis sure are fun, I've taken it in to some pretty cool spots. Everything becomes a runway. I put rather large skis on it, we tend to have super light fluffy snow here and the gear on it is pretty short. I wanted to be able to float. Maybe another couple of weeks before I have to go back to wheels, its parked at 8000' now.

That's awesome! I had a Quicksilver MX for years that came with skis. I never had the chipotles to put them on the thing.

Only 9300’, first good flying day in almost 2 weeks. Couple feet of new snow. New lz for me and likely any aircraft ever.

stilllearning, does your fabric get saggy like that at cold temps and tighten up when it warms? What system did you use?
