Chair lifts?! We don't need no stinkin' chairlifts
Two of the best inventions ever, skis and airplanes, together.
Found this postcard in some old stuff (and I think figured out how to embed on a post). Looking at the skiers, the gear looks like it is from the 60's-70's. The PA-14 is still on the register in AK. Don't know how they would feel about you landing on the slopes now. Though landing at the base of the chair lifts would take the hassle out of parking at Mt. Batchelor.

Nice, Alyeska is where I learned to snowboard back in 2005. You could probably fly into Girdwood and hitch a ride to the mountain if you wanted to.

I used to to that all the time. Never had to walk far before I got a ride. Been about 10 yrs since I was on DH ski's though but I am sure it has not changed much!

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”
Looks like rockered powder skiis with camber in the middle? I have a couple boards with different types of rocker and like them both.

hahaha, I know the ski's have changed, I was referring to the fly into Girdwood and hike up to the chair lifts part. lol
I am not sure how much liquid courage it would take to get me on ski's now, but I am sure it would be no small amount, I don't bounce as well as I used to haha.

I think that was all of us in '79,

I didn't get any real ski pants for a couple years after that.
