Re: Citabria 7GCBC Question

When American Champion started building them, I believe in 1989 or 1990.

Re: Citabria 7GCBC Question

Just talked to the ACA dealer here in SNY. You were close on the dates. Jerry Mehlaff bought the company in '88 and started manufacturing in '90 making the 150hp Decathalon with metal wings. In about 91-92 he started making the 180hp Super Decathalon and discontinued the 150hp. Belanca quit making planes in '84. The 7GCBC (as the Explorer)150hp started manufacture in '94, the GCAA in '98, the Scout in '93 (8GCBC), and the High Country Explorer (7GCBC) in June of '05. ACA never made any wood spars. If you happen to find an older Belanca plane with Metal spars it probably had new wings put on it. You can buy complete metal spar wings to replace the old wooden ones. Check the site: amerchampionaircraft.com Here you can find all kinds of information.
