Timely, I was just at Hood yesterday (don't want to steal your thunder but I gotta post it

) I saw this one there (crossposted from where did you fly today):

Float slip in style:

Couldn't help but notice that traffic seemed way down from previous summers. 'Cause it was Sunday morning? A little misty rain? The economy? Don't know.

...remember, life is uncertain, eat desert first!
... and, those that pound their guns into plows, will plow for those who don't.

For what it's worth I started going to ANC almost twice a month from 1992-2004 and over that that time the decrease in light aircraft both on the hard at the airport and at Lake Hood was noticeable and many of the crew commented on it...friends still going there maintain that it looks pretty bare these days[in comparison]....

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

Can remember 30 to 40 airplanes waiting for takeoff in opposite directions at the same time on the day before hunting season. Not an easy deal when none have brakes and cannot stop

Controllers earned their money on those days.

Keep the shiney side up and the dirty side down...
I recall getting in the traffic pattern to land at Lake Hood to land # 15 to land never talked to the tower or received clearence to land

Just got in line and landed , could not get a word in with all the chatter. happened often on busy weekends.
