Timely, I was just at Hood yesterday (don't want to steal your thunder but I gotta post it  ) I saw this one there (crossposted from where did you fly today):

Couldn't help but notice that traffic seemed way down from previous summers. 'Cause it was Sunday morning? A little misty rain? The economy? Don't know.

...remember, life is uncertain, eat desert first!

For what it's worth I started going to ANC almost twice a month from 1992-2004 and over that that time the decrease in light aircraft both on the hard at the airport and at Lake Hood was noticeable and many of the crew commented on it...friends still going there maintain that it looks pretty bare these days[in comparison].... :(

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

Can remember 30 to 40 airplanes waiting for takeoff in opposite directions at the same time on the day before hunting season. Not an easy deal when none have brakes and cannot stop  Controllers earned their money on those days.
