Re: Clear Creek Airstrip Construction Continues

Will this airstrip be open to "Airstrip Baggers"? If so, what will the hours of operation be as to not disrupt the nearby hunters and neighbors?

NO BAGGERS!

I really don't want airplane carcasses littering my place. 8)

Iceman,
You're more than welcome to visit. Clear Creek has lots of small trout but very few big ones these days. What we do have, is more whitetail deer than anywhere I've ever seen. You can see the creek and our house on the right-hand side of the picture. There should have good turf on the runway by July too.

With hunting season coming up, and bowhunting probably already open over there, if you want to get them deer thinned out maybe you should put the word out locally that people are more than welcome to come hunt your place. Lots of people don't want a "wilderness experience", they just want venison in the freezer.

What a place to live - that house nestled in the trees looks fantastic.... and your own airstrip almost ready! What a lifestyle.

Fern Hopper,
The airstrip is only 1740 feet MSL and the top of my property is 2300 feet MSL. We do get some snow but not more than 1/2 a foot usually.

Why the "No fill please" sign?

Got all the fill from the County Road Department I need. We got the place looking like a park and the runway leveled out so I don't need any more dirt piles.

Re: Clear Creek Airstrip Construction Continues

Hello Backcountry Pilots,
I spent the last week picking rock and seeding my airstrip. It took 150 pounds of grass seed to do the runway. I borrowed a big roller that I pulled behind my pickup truck in 4 low. In addition, I purchased a $70 seed broadcaster from Walmart that worked great. I surveyed the power-line to be burried with a camera tri-pod and an old Weaver 4K gun scope.
Hope to have the power-line burried early this winter. Way too many deer on my runway too. Had some guy try to land there in a black super-cub type airplane on bush-wheels until he saw the power-line on short final as I was picking rocks. #-o
