cliff I flew over a couple weeks ago

I see this local snowmobiler had a video go viral, and it is getting lots of national attention. This is the exact same area I flew over (I can tell you the direction he was going by the way the snow is drifted, when I went over this 10K or so ridge line snow was curling off of it, that got my full attention as I was headed into a valley right on the other side, the Box Y Lodge) right east of Afton Wyoming.

Another local made the paper a few weeks ago when he was in the same area, and got tangled up in his flipped machine. He lost one arm up to the elbow, those things are dangerous

Wow what a close call for that guy. It looks like a decent snow pack; it is abysmal here so far this year.

That guy was DAMN lucky...................... And he had testicles the size of bowling balls to hit reverse and back that sled off the edge.........

One fact to remember when riding in the backcountry and you come up to a cliff.............. There is a reason the trees stop growing..... The room between the trees and the edge is 99.999 % of the time a huge cornice.... And they can and will break off. [-o< [-o<

that particular area of western wyoming is NOT for amateur riders...for sure...i simply don't take people in areas like those unless they have at least 10 yrs of back-country under their belt on 200HP sleds...!

Re: cliff I flew over a couple weeks ago

I did a very similar thing a few yrs ago, scared the crap (& desire to hillclimb) out’a me!!
(When I had that 800 hill climber sled)

We were hillclimbing out behind Mary's Wilderness lake cabin, (6-7000') having traction prob’s in the windblown (hard) snow. I moved over a hundred yards & found good traction & went to the top, then started banging on hard ice ridges so slowed down. Good thing, ‘cuz when I stopped I was looking straight down over 1000’, looking @ the TOPS of the trees down there. When my blood pressure came back up I went down & told the guys “don’t go there”. Lucky there was no cornice there!

The next time that damn sled blew up I bought a boondocker sled & don’t do blind hill climbs any more! Now the trick is to stay away from tree trunks!!

Here is my view where I stopped:

I was just thinking "man there sure is some flat light hiding stuff". That's scary even from here.
