cockpit fun!

I flew down to Cottage Grove today from some Thai food with a friend, then tested out the new camera set up on the way back. The video is landing a gravel bar and a field on the Willamette then landing in Corvallis, so nothing to cool but I finally got a way to hook the camera up to the radio so here is the result... was tuned into Cascade Approach and had the XM radio techno station on. Sometimes the audio gets a little annoying where there are broken transmissions and stuff but overall I thought it was kinda funny.

This also was the first time I used the prop distortion filter which I think worked really well.

Edit: looks like youtube did not upload the HD video from adobe even though it was supposed to. Ill get a higher quality version up asap.

Edit Edit: HD version now in place!

Re: cockpit fun!

Looks real familiar...

Nice video! I have received permission from Eugene Tower to touchdown on floats on Fern Ridge Lake which is slightly West of the Willamentte River.

That is awesome! I've been sailing out there, but gee landing there sounds like a lot more fun. I would love to get some floats for my plane someday, as they do make them... because flying on floats sounds so damn fun! I can only imagine the new possibilities! Floats in Oregon during the summer..... mmmmm :D

Where are you based out of?

Re: cockpit fun!

Is that a Savannah, or a modified 701 ???

I've never seen that upper cabin aluminum structure on a 701 or 750, and the skylight seems to be a lot higher above your heads than a stock 701.

Re: cockpit fun!

Fun video. It's great to see the bird being used more than I did.

What is the blinking light below the ASI and Tach?

It looks like you are using the same Icom A23?

Did I see colors on the GPS? Garmin 296?

Re: cockpit fun!

Tom-

I honestly can't thank you enough for what you sold us, its been more than a dream come true! I would have never imagined this year would have turned out the way it has, at this time last year...

The blinking light its the GoPro remote, its a lot more obvious in the video then when your actually sitting there. And below the clock you might be able to notice the transponder we put it. We lucked out and found one with the perfect size interface to fit in that part of the panel. Though we have been having some issues with Cascade picking up our Mode C lately. And yes no change to the radio, along with working on the mode c this winter I think were also going to look into the shielding of the radio cables to see if we can some how get rid of that radio feedback when around the big towers. Luckily the local transmissions seem to always break the static but it sure has made for some tense moments going in and out of Hillsboro & Troutdale.

That's a Garmin Area 550, I already had that, so it was the perfect little upgrade for us, its got XM weather/radio and all those goodies, which are both really nice to have, especially when your camped out in the middle of nowhere and want a weather update :)

Hopefully Steve and I can still keep you flying with us vicariously through pictures and video!

I had that problem when I owned the Clipper. Thought it was a ground plane issue, turned out to be a loose connection! Then then the txponder went out :( . Hope you can chase it down without too much hassle.

Cool video by the way.
