Wondering if someone can help me. I will be flying to Montrose, Co from Sioux Falls, SD in Mid October. Any suggested VFR routes? I've never been out there and looking for the best way to get to the Montrose Area and will be coming in from Northeast.
Thanks,
Ryan

Just lookng at my chart. Looks like you would have a nice flight from Pueblo to florence to Salida to Gunnison to Montrose. Check winds aloft. Usually better in mornings. If you don't want to go over Monarch Pass, which is just west of Salida, you can go south to Saguache and then up that valley to Gunnison. Very pretty flight. Gary

If you want to go up, pull back on the controls. If you want to go down, pull back farther.

What is the airplane that you will be making the trip in???? Service ceiling? If that becomes an issue, then maybe explore the route of Rawlins WY a lower place to cross continental divide and then turn south.
