Concorde - 11 vs 13.6 Ah
Have problems with your aircraft? Maybe just questions about how best to tune or adjust something? Regs or maintenance? Need to know the best way to do something?
Hey guys,
Looking for some advice. I called Concorde about a new battery for my 206 to replace a faulty Gill battery. They offered me two options, a 26.5lb 11 Ah battery, or a 29.5lb 13.6Ah battery. I don't have enough experience to have any bias one way or the other. The sales rep said the colder temps here in Idaho, plus some future avionics upgrades I'm planning would nudge me towards the 13.6Ah battery.
Thoughts?

I'd love to install an EarthX battery, however they don't offer a certified 24V battery for this application. When I reached out, they said it's not even on their current two-year-long approval plan.
They said my only option was to order one, and have a DER sign off on the installation. I'm looking into that, but I've never done that before and I heard it's very difficult to find a DER.

Call Shaun Tubbs at Performance Air in Caldwell, ID. He has experience with EarthX and certified aircraft and may be able to help you.

Somtimes my wife gets jealous because I talk to Shaun more than I talk to her

I run the bigger battery in my IO-550 185. Lots of juice. When cranking over, it feels like you could taxi on the starter. Go big or go home! Nothing like a big quality battery for dependable starts.

As it turns out, it looks like I can get the TSO 24v earthx field approved. Going down that route in a couple of weeks!
