concorde battery willnot fit into cessna 182 box
Have problems with your aircraft? Maybe just questions about how best to tune or adjust something? Regs or maintenance? Need to know the best way to do something?
Greetings
As the subject notes....I just purchased a 12V concorde battery RG. THe plane is a 1962 model F 182 with the plastic/bakelite? battery box at the rear of the plane.
The battery drops into the box and hookups are good, but the box cover will not fit because of teh top of the battery. I have heard that a little cutting of teh battery box cover will allow it to drop onto the battery.
Anyone with experience with this?
Thanks
Sean

Don’t cut the lid. Warm it up where it interferes with the battery and press a wood block into it to reshape it. It’s even detailed in the STC instructions. If they didn’t include them, they’re right there on their website.
Check your paperwork. A weight and balance amendment may also be required.

Thanks for the reply. Turns out Concorde changed the website and material not available directly online. Fortunately the website does have a contact number and a suggestion to call before purchase (oops). Their tech specialist (Ashley) was very helpful and sent me a diagram for battery cover modification. I'll see how it works.

I’ve done a bunch of them, quick warmup with the heat gun, press into place, done. Piece o cake.
