controller for the landing/spot

Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

controller for the landing/spot

Re: controller for the landing/spot

The ones with multiple settings on a rotary dial were installed in the CC-18s at work, but they all failed after 5-8 years if I remember correctly. Those controllers were replaced with a 3 position toggle switch and as far as I know those are all still working. Toggle goes off, flash, steady.

Re: controller for the landing/spot

I’m also interested in a simple and affordable wig wag option. Troy what you mention sounds ideal. I think the max pulse units are fine but I only ever use 1 option so I’d prefer to just have a switch.

I’ve used this little thing before and it works to flash both my lights at the same time but no wig wag and I don’t love cycling the switch to go between steady and pulse.

Would also prefer aviation grade but honestly if someone has a proven “experimental” unit I’m interested in that as well.

Thanks

Edit:
Just found this Whelen one that appears to function like Troy’s planes..

I'm embarrassed to say the first time I saw that dial in one of the flight school's 172s, I thought it was an ignition curve selector because the aircraft also had an Electroair installation. The labeling on it is not exactly super clear what it means. It took me a few minutes to realize it was the flasher pattern selector.

Re: controller for the landing/spot

Wouldn’t be certified

But I wonder if any of the police/EMS controllers/switches from whelen would work?

LED or Super-LED® flasher with synchronization

Four outlet, four channel flasher with 62 Scan-Lock™ flash patterns allowing for alternating, simultaneous, and synchronized flashing lightheads

Each channel can drive up to 5 amps (60 watts) and is short circuit and thermally protected”

Picked up a auction detectives car a while back, it’s got all the hidden flashers and stuff, the controllers and all seem tuff as nails, don’t see why it couldnt work on aviation lights, I mean a LED is a LED
