Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Courierguy flying thread

Now this is the kind of thing I live for! I got a call from a cell phone tower erector, wanting me to go check out a job site at 8171' just north of Leadore. The road up is "good, but steep", and I would need to be towed up by a dozer, and let back down the same way

Forget the fact I was just up there a week or so ago, or at least within 10 miles of the site, I guess I'll just have to fly up again and make a first hand inspection, after all safety first  Google earth shows a pretty bare looking hill side right at the job site, so i should be able to land right there and check it out.

'bout time you got your own thread! =D>

The subject line, though... doesn't quite have that ring to it.. How about "Where did Courierguy Fly Today"?

Always enjoy your posts, keep 'em coming.

Yeah, I agree, it sounds pretty lame. I'll try and come up with a snappier title.

I have since turned down the crane job on the tower site, just too much weight too high up for my machine. The good thing is I don't have to brave that haul up that steep road, and....if the weather is good and I have the time I'll still drop in the job site the day of the pick just to watch. This tower was 150' high and a total weight of a bit over 20K. Getting a crane big enough to handle it up that switchbacked steep road will be a pretty good show!

For locals this tower site is halfway between Tendoy and Lemhi, on the east side of the valley and at 8180', and already has some towers up there so on the sectional I'd guess. I never noticed it before as when I fly that area I am usually on the deck or close to it [-X
