good grief what's a few crashes...when my cfi buddy from wyo was staying there, a few birds came in on the end of a sling, they too crashed "somewhere" but no one killed...so they hauled them off on a truck. big deal...while i am sorry for their circumstance, they can get other birds...glad that "they" are all OK...
as a group we gotta get over the "seemingly terrible" act of crashing. if u r an outdoor guy, and i mean everything fromatv's, sleds, heavenforbid skateboards, deep snow skiier/boarder, hiker or etc, it comes with the frickin' territory...! quit worrying about what everybody thinks if we bend something. they aint gonna close off our access to places 'cause of a little bent metal. go land these places if u want to. do it responsibly. do it with respect to leave it pristine for everyone else. best yet, get a local CFI, and there are some damn good ones to go with you! challis to mccall, u can find a pro if u ask, do it and it is $ well spent.

granted, we dont need the neg publicity, but still we have a right to be there as much as anyone else...SO, if u should end up at JC, like i have damn it 7 years ago with a crunched bird,use it as a motivator to get a little better at it, dust yourself off, and get goin'...with a little help...!

If you have not bent a plane yet you will...if you fly they way many pilots on this forum like to fly its only a matter of time.

I often hear from pilots that say "I have 15,000 hours and never bent an airplane". That same pilot flies from airport to airport and has never landed on a 300' homemade strip at 8000' either. This is a backcountry flying forum. There are those that want to fly the airplane and those that do. If you do, your going have an incident one day. Just have a look at some of the more respected pilots on several of these type forums. ALL have had there moment...ALL OF THEM...sure makes me think more seriously about getting an experimental.

It makes me crazy when the armchair monday morning quarter backs start given there 2c when generally speaking they are the ones that have 15,000 hours flying from one 3000' paved runway to another or the guy that has less than 500 hours and thinks he has.

Some of us fly for a living and cant afford to have a revocation or suspension for crashing at a 300' strip at 8000' or my companies insurance not cover me for doing something stupid and lose my job.

I wish I could fit all my backcountry hauling needs into a plane small enough to afford me that attitude..... still, the GA guys say the price of my experimental IO-540 makes it a "throwaway engine"...?! Not to me!

Yes, I'm primarily here for the spectacular marriage of flying and the backcountry,
but it is the humor/wit/sarcasm/repartee/gaffs/thread creep/hijacks/etc. that keep this site fresh and enjoyable.
We have a lot of strong personalities aboard (and sharp wit), and I must say that all in all we 'usually' do a fine job of meshing together and generating a unique blend of both entertainment and information for each other's enjoyment.

X4 Without some good natured banter and a few rounds lobbed over the bow here and there, this place would be boring as hell and suck! Most do a great job of being funny (sarcastic and witty) and only a few take the occational stroll across the line.. And most members are quick to break out teh big stick and beat them back to reality.

If it was not for the humor and comraderie I see on the site, I would not waste my time here
