Absolutely gorgeous airplane! Watching the fiber resin getting pumped is cool as hell. She gets off short too!

Every time I see a video of a tube fuselage being built, I always wonder how much weight could be saved if someone welded one up in titanium instead of chromoly. It's harder to weld and it would cost a fortune, but it's done successfully on high end bikes. It's about 30% lighter and doesn't rust. That, along with titanium hardware, could knock off a lot of weight. Anyone know if it has ever been tried? Just curious. This Carbon Cub certainly climbs just fine in steel!

Sweet. Bigger planes carry more, but they are inevitably heavier. You don't get that kind of performance unless you leave most of the weight on the ground. The takeoff run on the initial flight suggests you were successful with your weight watcher's program.

I believe there’s a titanium option for the Sherpa. *Much* bigger, crazy $$$$ airplane, though.

Just watched the first 5 min of video, and something funky happened and I can't get it back, just a black screen with the time meter ticking, weird. Looking forward to watching the whole thing.

Titanium was used by the defunct Mountain Goat cub clone I believe, just too damned expensive is my guess why it isn't used more, like 30 K more to save about 30 lbs. Just pulled those numbers out of my a**, but figure it would be a similar mind blowing extra expense.
