Int'l Border Crossing

This TSA proposal was being actively opposed by most seaplane pilots in Minnesota, as well as COP (Canadian Pilots Assoc.). Obviously, common sense did not prevail. This will make it near to impossible to return to the states on floats after a weekend fishing in Canada. There are no airports along the MN border on the Canadian side for straight floats, so how the heck do you log in to the internet to file the return request? Most of us travel to remote cabins in Ontario with no power, phones, and definitely no internet access. Now I'm going to have to buy a laptop, try to hook it up to my Iridium sat phone, and see if I will be able to get internet access in the sticks. Something wrong with dragging a laptop along on a Canadian fishing trip. We already had a great system in place for clearing the border using a transponder waiver, which allowed everything to be done from home with a phone call before departing. This will stop a LOT of recreational pilots from bothering with a border crossing, which was probably the goal in the first place. Completely asinine and does not one thing to improve anyone's safety. Russ
