Cylinder shop recommendations
Lycoming, Continental, Hartzell, McCauley, or any broad spectrum drive system component used on multiple type.
Does anyone have any recent experience/recommendations on a shop to do a valve job on my O-470 cylinder? PNW area would be preferable, but I can ship it anywhere. Thanks!

I looked all over, wanted to stay close ish to Idaho but ended up sending mine to Performance Air Parts in AR. I’m very happy with the work they did.

I just had one done for my A-65 at Gibson in OK. I haven't put the new one on yet, so I can't comment on quality other than they were recommended by a friend that had one done there with good results. However, I can say customer service was excellent and the price was reasonable. The only glitch was mine needed to be chromed and the chrome shop (They send them out to get chromed) was on the slow side.

Ben O'con the owner of Corona Engine, Corona CA, just finished up a O470 Cylinder for me. He has done several O/H's of my cylinders over the last 14 years. Nice guy, great work and honest.

Lots of cylinders from my airport have gone down to Premier at Troutdale OR.
They did one for me several years ago-- reasonable pricing & quick turnaround.
A flat rate for the OH labor, plus parts.
I think maybe the days of quick turnarounds anywhere might be in the past though.

Cessna Skywagon -- accept no substitute!
I second the Avian recommendation.

Its about as far as you can get from the PNW, but I had a good experience with two O-360 cylinders at Penn Yan. Their cylinder shop guy did really nice work on my cylinders, but it was about $1500 for two cylinders including two new exhaust valves, new seats for intake and exhaust, new guides, and new bushings, and then two sets of nuts and installation hardware.
