Denio Junction gas?

Does any one know if the gas pumps in Denio Junction have been fixed yet?

Thanks!

How's the trip going Chosstradamus?. Have you had any rattlers crawl in your sleeping bag on any of your camp outs in the Nevada back country yet? Your find me spot function is not working. I and probably a few others would have like to follow you around.

Unfortunately it looks like there is possibly some weather rolling in, and since I didn't want to deal with that I bought a commercial ticket. But I'm packed and ready to go, so I'm going to fly out to the Owhyee tomorrow and then the Alvord or Hells Canyon before I have to come home Tuesday night.

I was really excited for the long trip, but oh well!

Fields Station has gas. Gotta choice of road or the old airstrip behind the school.

Thanks, been there done that, but it has ethanol in it  Fueling up with a milk shake and a burger seems to keep one tank full for a while

Re: Denio Junction gas?

Did Denio have no-alcohol premium gas before the pumps went out?

Re: Denio Junction gas?

I got gas at Denio a few years ago and it was eth free. Last time at Fields station I put in 10 gallons of 10% eth just to make sure I had a good margin when I got home. Got home and filled it up with clear gas to dilute it down. Did not worry about it at all.

A little alcohol won't hurt anybody, just ask Gump.

With the high cost of a ground up fueling system and low volume of sales at Denio, I guess they will never have fuel again. I could be wrong.

Oh they should most definitely have fuel again, their pumps broke down last spring and they had said the new ones would be installed sometime this winter/spring. I think a lot of people count on gas there so it seemed like it was kind of a big deal they were going to be shutdown for a while.

Had to do the same thing last year, when we flew in to Denio expecting to get fuel and found the pumps to be broken. Luckily the bartender was a Beaver fan and he went home and grabbed a 5 gal can for us, enough to get us to Bog Hot Springs and then to Fields for 10 gal of ethanol stuff...

..

First off (not to be picky) they have not had the pumps at the fuel island for many years. I first started working in this industry in about 1985. At that time all new installations had submersible pumps in the tanks and dispensers on the islands. If it was just a matter of replacing the dispensers is would be no more that a couple of weeks.

Much more to it. The latest requirements for spill containment, leak detection, vapor recovery etc may be in play. This is Nevada and not Kalifornia so it may be not as bad. But still my guess is more than 250K. Got to sell a lot of gas and Twinkies to pull that off.

Actually I believe it was the tanks, not pumps, and that's what the guy there had said about replacing em... probably should just call and find out 8)
