Right now only MM can speak to the conditions of his landing surface. To me it looks like a silt bed on a very long beach. I have seen cubs (lighter than a maule) go on their noses in similar conditions, on the other hand I see nothing in that picture that suggests a properly equipped airplane couldn't have made a successful landing somewhere on that beach... compared to the cost and effort of this extraction I think b-wheels are pretty darn cheap 8)

You know, in about a month you could just put floats on it and take it off from the lake that will be where the plane is now. Lake Powell is supposed to go up as much as 50ft this spring. Probably more expensive than the borrowed bushwheels, though!

Wow! the whole lake is going up by 50' that sure sounds like an amazing amount of water! I bet Zahns is not much over 50' higher than where that plane is sitting, if that much.

Rob: the ABW got here Thursday about noon Colorado time. THis things look F-ing awesome. The UPS guy was blown away when i told him they were for a 4 seat light airplane, he must have thought people really take there 4-wheeling pretty seriously even in airplanes 8) Thanks Again Rob and Wup for the spacers!!!

Wow if the lake and the river wents up 50' the plane would be under water. That idea with the floats would probably work but at a price i would not be interested in paying. floats,, you guys think of everything. peter
