Thank you Willie Stene you are on the top of my Christmas list. The 31 in Desser's with the bushwheel 10 inch rims are the perfect combination for the heavier skywagons.

This is great! Can someone point me in the right direction of how to actually go about applying for the field approval? Basically re-do the compliance checklist with the info for my plane filled in?

Willie made the compliance checklist to suit all 180's and 185's. It's simply compliance to CAR3. This is a real service to the community because 2 DER's were the ones that made the checklist. I imagine you would simply submit your 337 with his approved 337 and his compliance checklist as the supporting documentation.. assuming you are wanting them put on a 180/185.

Well, here goes. I submitted my FA337 for Desser 31's on ABI 10" wheels using Willie's 337/checklist as references. Bring the popcorn and let's see what the North Texas FSDO does now;)

This is a big gift for the community and very rare. The amount of work that Willie put into this is huge, so much so that most shops would want to guard their intellectual property and keep this stuff private.

I have had the privilege of getting to know Willie over the past year or two and am continually impressed. I know this was not his motivation, but if your on the fence about a Sportsman or adding some more light to your bird, consider taking a look at what his company offers. https://www.steneaviation.com

FYI... He hasn't advertised it, but I saw he is running a short-term sale on the tips for $2750 (down from the $3115). Not only do you get the tips, but he includes all 14/3 shielded wire, switches, breakers, trim, and even shrink tube. I just installed a fourth set and they really are impressive.

Thanks Willie for making this public!

Well, here's a trip report. Remember I submitted an FA 337 using Willie's checklist and sample 337. Just got the approved FA 337 in the mail today! Yahoo.... Desser 31/10" ABI here we come. Now if Zane can add it to the database for others that would be very cool.

Thanks Mr Stene!

Sweet! Give us a Prep when you can... but man alive! 51lbs per side... Ouch! #-o I would say that the only way to run that much weight on these old gear legs would be to have Ti gear. Let us know what you think after some hours.
