Dewey Moore crash

So news is a Cirrus exec crashed his Cub today.
He was airlifted out.
Is that the second incident in a week or so?
Anybody have details?

Re: Dewey Moore crash

Have not heard much, apparently it happened last Thursday. He was flying a supercub and tried to go-around for some reason. Flown out by helicopter to a hospital, don't know where.

Re: Dewey Moore crash

When the exec of Cirrus still owns a Cub, it says something good about backcountry flying and Cubs both!

Bad news about the crash of course, poor guy.

Re: Dewey Moore crash

The plane was still there on Sunday. It was about 50-100 feet from the usual approach path (where you would normally expect wreckage). The news that this was a go around attempt makes sense given the wreckage location. A go around would have to be started pretty early on this strip.
I would note that the actual landing surface was difficult to see from the air due to the spring grass growth. Perhaps he turned the corner and couldn't figure out the exact landing spot.

Hope his recovery is swift.

I hope the recovery is swift as well. Todd is also a RAF board member—definitely a proponent of backcountry flying.

Re: Dewey Moore crash

I was at JC the last 2 nights. I talked to a fellow pilot who lives in McCall. The word is the pilot was pretty well messed up. Face and broken femur. I wish Todd a speedy recovery.

Cheers...Rob
