Re: Do Shoes Matter?

I guess I must be numb from the knees down. I’ve just never given any thought at all to the footgear I NEED to fly a plane. Jan. 1, I flew to Lewistown,MT in my 175 tail wheel converted. Because it was -15 at launch, and not a lot of “friendly” places to light enroute, I wore the aforementioned Air Force surplus mukluks.

The heat in this plane won’t melt anything, and my tootsies were toasty all day.

Only problem was the 182 I was doing a FR in had a seat rail lock, and was tight fit getting boots tween door post and seat.

But, flying? Heavenly. Landing? Same as tennis’s in summer, near as I can tell.

Numb? Maybe, or just too dumb to notice.

Happy flying, whatever shoes you choose!
