Re: Do you remember the light signals???

I'm color blind so they restrict me. It sucks, I can see the difference in green and red like everyone else I suppose, but the difference between white and green is tough. If I watch a beacon spin, dirty white is the green one to me. The test consists of them shooting the light gun at you in random seaquences one second bursts and you have to get them all right to lift the restriction. Kind of silly because the only time I'd get a white light would be on the ground meaning taxi back, not like I'm going to think hmmmm I wonder why they're shooting a light at me, it looks green guess I'll go, wonder why they didn't just say something? Or flying along and get a light from the tower and think hmmm a white light, he wants me to taxi to parking? Oh well, never seen a Fed after dark in my neck of the weeds, never saw one before dark either.

Re: Do you remember the light signals???

I'd prefer to avoid towered airports but I put up with it so I can park my plane 1 mile from my house. Gonna get a sticker and put it in the plane so I don't have to wonder what the flashing green means.

Nosedragger, I got ramp checked at IDA last summer...

Sportys gives away a little cloth to clean your iPad with that has the light gun and xponder signals on it every few months and lots of other cool info like wx minimums and commonly forgotten stuff. I have two now that I got for free. Can't beat free.

Flying is dangerous. If you think otherwise, you are new at this sport. Mind the gravity not the gap.

Ya? What's that like? I've never had anyone ask to see my pilot's license. Instructors want to see my logbook after we're done flying to sign it and that's it. Too bad, because I think I could pass for one of the guys on my license if I took my hat off.

Re: Do you remember the light signals???

Wasn't bad at all. Asked to see registration and airworthiness. Asked if I was goin flying and I told the no just doing some cleaning. Didn't ask to see my license.

Re: Do you remember the light signals???

I think I have a good story upcoming about that subject. Right now it's in the jurisdiction of the FISDO. If anyone offers to be your safety pilot while you're under the hood, don't be shy about asking to see their license, even if they claim to be a commercial pilot. More to come......

Reminds me of flying cub to Idaho from Anc got all the maps in order but got tired of screwing with them and just thru them in the back and followed GPS. U guessed it GPS crapped out and could not reach the maps. WX coming down [-X Had to land on the highway to get maps #-o Don't throw them so far back now 8)

Keep the shiney side up and the dirty side down...

Re: Do you remember the light signals???

Ha Ha. Did kinda the same deal. Got diverted east in BC from wx and "ran out" of sectional. Had to land on a road by a cafe/gas station to buy a road map to continue on. In the ancient pre-GPS days.
