Dodging Green Blobs

Made this time lapse video of a trip a buddy and myself took to Sporty's Fly in. It was a cool flight. Had to really be thinking and making decisions on the go every second it seemed. A very good learning experience. It really helped to have another pilot sitting behind me to help out with tasks.

Got some pretty cool video too!

Enjoy.

Looks like you made lemonade out of a day that could have been just lemons! Its good to see you are getting good use of your new plane and recent license. You are indeed a very lucky fellow!

Some of the flying video was pretty dark. Are you using an ND filter? If so, what number filter is it? I'm still trying to fine tune my selection of ND filters to blur the prop sufficiently and yet still show the level of light as accurately as possible. It seems to involve more art than science.

Re: Dodging Green Blobs

Thanks!

Yes it was all filmed on the nflightcam. It has a filter on it, but I'm not sure which one.

One thing I've noticed with the nflightcam is that it does NOT like any low light conditions. The video quality goes grainy quick.

I picked up a go pro this week on sale so I'm gonna give it a shot this weekend. I've fought it long enough. It seems like the best game in town.

That was an excellent video Evan, and building experience in adverse flight conditions is what it is all about.

How about changing your username to Scud Runner?

Re: Dodging Green Blobs

Haha I would but I'm sure it's already taken. I got a comment from another instructor (not mine) that said it looked pretty bad. I didn't think it was bad at all. The ceilings were a little low when we started off at 1800ft and then by the end of the day were around 3800. The rain showers were so slow moving (intensity ranging from light to moderate) most of them were not registering a track on Foreflight. On top of that visibility was prob minimum of 20 miles under the broken layer.

I did not feel uncomfortable until we got in the damn pattern at Sportys!

Looks like a great day. It's always interesting how the cameras can make it look like your less than 500' below the clouds.
