I've had some private contacts, and I have answered all of them, but nothing shows as sent for the last 6 months. I can't tell if my responses went out at all. Is there something I need to do differently? I just respond in the box and hit the "reply" button, but nothing shows up. Thanks.

Bumping this. I still can't respond to private messages--tried again today. When I hit "submit", nothing happens. Would very much like to respond, but for some reason, the last 6 months I have been unable to do so. Any possibility of fixing this, Zzz?

My PM features seem to be working correctly.
I got one the other day--
I didn't receive and email notification, like I do from the SC site,
but I can't recall if BCP has a feature to do that.
Or if my account might not have that feature enabled.

Need more information. I respond to severals PMs a day without issue, they all show in my Sent box. Without being able to look over your shoulder, very specific description of your actions and the undesired result is required.

OK. I see a red indicator at the upper right that I have a new message, so I click on that, which takes me to messages. There I see a new message, so I click on it to read it. I then fill in the box with whatever response I wish to make, and click on "add reply". At that point, whatever I typed into the box disappears. But checking the "sent" messages, nothing of what I've just done appears--and it hasn't for about 6 months, but I didn't realize that until I didn't get a follow-up that I expected fairly recently. Then Whee specifically said that he'd not heard from me in this thread, yet I'd sent him a detailed message.

I respond to all messages. Not that there are all that many, but some. I'm really not the arrogant SOB that doesn't respond to PMs that I appear to be! Honest!

Oh, also, the "global message" icon remains red if I try to shut it off. Nothing happens if I click on it.

Probably. It sounds like a javascript issue since those are sent asynchronously in the background. Try Chrome? Firefox? Send me a test message.

Your browser isn't loading or running some key scripts. What browser? Are you running any goofy security software on your XP machine?

To be honest, I haven't a clue. It's been awhile since the machine was taken into the repair shop, and who knows what the tech put on it? I don't have time right now--an appointment in a little while--but I'll look to see what security stuff might be on it. Any hints you can give me, please feel free to do so.

Hmmm--maybe a good excuse to ditch the old thing?

Found a security software on it that I don't recall anyone ever putting on, deleted it. It made no difference (still can't reply or initiate) without restarting, so I'll try that now.

Restarting from a cold start (fully off for about 15 seconds) made no difference.

The only other security software I see on this machine is a McAfee Security Scan Plus that has been on the machine for a long time. I think it was installed some years ago when the screen was replaced. Unless something is hidden where I don't know where to look, that's about it.

Switched machines. Still an XP, but without the same security software. So it's clearly the other machine. I can now respond to PMs.

I do note that I can only send PMs either in response or to those who are designated as "friends". Don't know if that's normal.

Anyhow, thanks Zzz for responding. Looks like this old dinosaur needs to get rid of the dinosaur computer!
