Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

down the valley a ways part 2

This peak was where I was headed the other day before I got sidetracked landing another peak. This was Monday morning, nothing better then flying on a Monday! I took a thermos of coffee and hung out a while as I was in cell phone reach so technically "working". Or at least able to receive a call to go to work, close enough.Image I have yet to find a place to land at the actual peak, but have landed twice now on the lesser peak, about 8500'. Looking back at my place, about 25 miles away. Another mountain site where the picture ops are limited, if you step away the slope quickly screws up the picture composition, I really wish I had another pilot in my area to do these sites with, I have the POV in mind I want but it always takes another pilot in another airplane.Image The takeoff siteImage.

I did find a landing site very near the peak, but after circling it a while I decided the force just wasn't with me that day, my mojo wasn't up to it, I was off my feed, whatever, but I took a picture of it and am not ruling it out sometime in the future when I get all my ducks in a row or get bored landing elsewhere :? Nice pic's. If that is down Malad City way, I still remember being stuck in Boise because of an inversion back in 1989. I got my chance to head east and when getting over towards MC, I had to decide to either go on top or under. I decided on top and remember seeing Oxford and Elkhorn peaks sticking up out of the soup. I could see it was clear as a bell over by Rock Springs so proceded knowing that if the engine died, I'd soon be too.
