We have all heard about target fixation where a pilot gets so transfixed with the increasing accuracy that he begins pull up late. A similar thing can happen with the appropriate use of a downhill, in low ground effect, takeoff with high obstructions.
It is certainly appropriate to gain as much free ground effect energy, and gravity energy, as possible. In spray runs down slope into wires or trees, and in takeoff downhill into obstructions, we have to set a sooner than normal zoom point. Going just over is still appropriate, even with the extra free energy.
Like most good things, both downhill and low ground effect can be overdone in this situation.
