So I come from the car world, where in rally racing the key is quality suspension. Dual coil overs are a good way to provide both small and large shock absorption, then having a dampener in the middle seals the deal. Most setups have the ability to adjust the travel/stiffness on the dampener and also the springs.
For my plane, I want to build something similar in a pull spring configuration. it seems with some round tubes sleeved inside of one another I could create a situation where the pull causes the spring compression, which at that point would function like I'm used to.
I saw AOSS do something similar, just using a polymer instead of springs. My question, has anyone here gone down this path before using adjustable springs? It seems if I could get up to 5" of travel with adjustable thresholds I'd help the air frame quite a bit rolling over uneven terrain, and also help plant it during a really short landing. The concept seems deceptively simple, which is why I'm wondering why these things aren't floating around already.
