Dynon D180 AOA
Avionics, airplane covers, tires, handheld radios, GPS receivers, wireless Wx uplink...any product related to backcountry aircraft and flying.
Hello All:
I recently purchased a Rans S7

. It has a Dynon D180, but does not have the AOA probe. I am considering adding the AOA probe or some other AOA system. I saw a couple nice ones at Oshkosh, but they would be more expensive than adding the Dynon probe.
Anyone have experience with the Dynon AOA or recommendations of some other AOA system?
Thanks for your advice

I have a Dynon D100 in my RV, and built my own probe for cheap. All you really need to do is have a second pitot tube that has its end cut about 45 degrees compared to the "normal" pitot, which is at 90 degrees (i.e., directly into the flow of air). Here's a link to the photo of mine:

Cost is almost nothing, just a bit of tubing. You do have to calibrate the system in flight.
