Eagle Lake (Spaulding, CA 1Q2)
Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Hawk & I needed a break from the city and headed up to Eagle Lake for a day of fishing. Here is a short video to help us remember the trip. Damn, getting old really sucks!

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”
We musta passed like ships in the night. I flew over Almanor and Eagle Lake Thursday morning from Oroville, staying north of the smoke on the way home.
What's open at Eagle Lake within walking distance of the airport now?

Two business' are open at Eagle Lake that are helpfull. Just west of the runway about mid field is the Spalding RV Resort. They have campsites, RV sites and cabins. There is also a small store of sorts with minor essentials. To the NW there is a general store (about a 3/4 to one mile walk) It has more supplies, gas, small bar and a soft ice cream machine that the owners (george and her husband) will make one of the best root beer floats using. When Rich and I were there it was mid 80's and the floats became an afternoon staple.
When the lake is higher, there is a boat launch area with boat rentals through the store. The last couple of years the water has been too low for safe launching and use at this area of the lake.

I've been wanting to head up to Spaulding for a while now. My IA says he keeps a jeep up there and I could fly in and use it if I wanted to.
