eastern connections

Hi just joined Back Country Pilot , and working on my tailwheel endorsement at andover aeroflex in the J3 cub . I have really learned alot
about airplanes and how real pilots fly there planes, also its great to know that you can still get top notch instruction, and not feel like a piece of meat like you sometimes can at some of the 141 schools.
But that aside I'am looking foward to some good east coast flying and hopefully some good connections back east here .

christopher,
Congratulations on your tailwheel instruction. I've heard good things about andover aeroflex. There are a number of good eastern fly-ins for tailwheel pilots and a few of those pilots hang out here. If you remain interested in cubs, attend the Sentimental Journey fly-in in Lock Haven, PA in June of each year. There used to be an outfit that rented cubs and champs at Fredrick but they went out of business some years ago -- too bad.
I fly out of MRB not far from you.

Maximum climb performance certainly has its advantages doesn't it :D Been to a couple grass strips on the eastern shore like laurel in delaware and Spring Hill thats a private strip just behind Bennett which is also grass. If you go the other direction Mexico Farms in Cumberland is a neat grass strip. Unfortunately most of our little out of the way strips are private. All of our natural resources guys ride boats, kind of limits the need for airstrips.

A 170 without a tailwheel is a 172  . Low in slow in a cub over the Appalachians, I'm going to need a minute. :D
