Re: (EBO) Experimental Bush Options

It will be a long time before 300 pounds of battery will provide the same amount of power-hours as 300 pounds of gasoline

The deal breaker, you land backcountry with high DA and you still have 300 lbs of fuel weight, regardless of whats usable.

Probably needs a new thread to cover this topic,,,,,,,,,

@ Zenithguy,

I just wanted to say that you have a nice plane there. I love the classic motorcycles in the background as well. Your point re the rugged Jeep looks are spot on. I have always thought that the baggage room in the back of Zeniths given the upturn in the fuse was a tad restricted, especially in the 801s. I may be wrong.

I stopped by Zenith and their planes at AOPA Annual Flyin 2015 over in Frederick, MD this year. Sebastian(?) Heinz was there as well. It was a goods show because Zenith, Bearhawk, and Cubcrafters aircraft were all there within a couple of hundred feet.

I am looking forward to seeing your pictures.

Thank you, really happy with the 750, looking forward to tagging along this winter on some of the flights I see posted here. Here's the baggage area of my 750 which is quite a bit bigger than the 701, which is really sparse as you said. You can see my seat pan at the bottom for the pilot's seat. The slot is storage for cell phones and iPads to charge. The carpet is a ultralight type with no backing, the type you find on dash covers, and it makes it almost spooky quiet inside.

I found a place that will make two duffle bags that will fit exactly in the rear baggage wells, and I will promptly give one to my wife and tell her if she can fit it in there, she can take it. If there's room after my dog.

That's cool... I looked at it and thought it was Zolatone paint, but if it is carpet then you will be even more comfy and quiet.

Congrats on getting close to completion/inspection.

Are you in Newport Beach CA or OR or some other Newport? What airport will you be flying out of? I'd love to see your airplane someday if you are local here in SoCal.

Thank you, I have a hanger at Corona Ca and a strip and cabin out in Landers beside Joshua Tree. You're welcome to stop by either any time. That carpet ended up being a nice surprise, I couldn't believe how much it quieted that aluminum skin cabin down, like I said, it was spooky quiet. Wasn't much of a weight gain, as I did not paint the interior. Easily put on with spray adhesive.

Sounds like you know the history. Even as a kid, I remember looking at the pictures of the UFOs at Giant Rock Airport and seeing all of the people there with tin foil on their heads and thinking, "Hey, those are just clouds!" (lenticular) And seeing the dome shaped Integratron Rejuvenation Machine that was built at the earth's "belly button" and asking, "How come the builder died of cancer if it was to cure everything?"
Great spot to play as a kid, get the chutes from the last nights war games, shoot at the dud 105mm rounds and try to detonate them(!!!??) Still a fun area to fly in, though.

Shot from the west of my strip with the cabin. BCP's get preferred parking……OregonMaule blessed the bar so it's hallowed ground now...

A bright red RV10 with bush wheels and a 500 hp. LS7 has Pipepainter written all over it.

No, I was talking about the other really not-nice group of people that had been associated with Landers a while back, holding witchcraft covens and burning goats and all that.

The aliens and UFO's would be fine with me. "Got Tin Foil?"

Reminds me of old tales about Catalina Island. I actually found a ritual sight in Silver Canyon (west side). There had been a goat sacrifice next to a water fall ("door to hell"). Freaked me out. A bunch of dead goat heads hanging on hooks. It was later explained to me it was Satanism. Circa 1976.

Re: (EBO) Experimental Bush Options

@ Zenithguy,

I just got my October issue of Sport Aviation, the EAA Magazine. They have a great article on a CH750 STOL. It has a beautiful blue and yellow paint job.

It also has two interesting (what look like canards) " little wings" on the rear lower fuse located about three feet forward of the leading edge of the horizontal stab. Canards of course go up front. Not sure what you would call these things located aft of the main wing.

I've never seen that feature on a Zenith. Interesting

I saw those, it has nothing to do with flight control, something to do with Avilution's avionics, can't remember what specifically.

It's been done. I don't remember what size the tires were, maybe 8.00 or 8.50's. VG's also. Someone had posted a picture of it at Memaloose on Vans Air Force a few years back.

Seems like this is the inverse of streamlining a Bearhawk or Super Cub for maximum speed? [-X

I think they have a saying about having your cake and eating it too... #-o
