Elk City, Idaho

I made a really nice flight over to Elk City, Idaho today. The strip was in very good condition and some nice camping spots are all set up with firewood. We made the short walk down to the local cafe for breakfast. The airport manager is a super nice guy and very accommodating. I made a pilot report on shortfield.com but this is a pretty sweet spot. Have Fun :D

Curt seems to be doing well. Certainly looking forward to more visitors flying in and saying "howdy".

Yup, Curt is a great guy and host. Has a really cool strip there. I feel that Elk City is the best ice cream stop in the back country.

If you want to go up, pull back on the controls. If you want to go down, pull back farther.

Re: Elk City, Idaho

pretty good burger and fries also. but then it's the only place in town I think so it's gotta be the best in town...It's a nice stop that most folks don't make when they're up there but it's an easy approach and fairly good uphill roll out so you stop pretty quick and it;s as wide as JC if not more... Curt flew up with me years ago for the first time and we camped at JC when he fell in love with Idaho... he worked with the town of Elk City after buying a lot up there and they made him airport mgr... all the improvements to the field, and he made many, he did at his own expense... now he's living the dream... flying out of his own hangar home, summer home, and out of the Peoples republic of Kalifornia.....See you in July Curt.... :D
