Emergency! Landing A 57 182A in a Cow Pasture!!

Just kidding! No emergency. But I did land without hitting any cow shit. Took off too!

No music, just the sweet sounds of flying a vintage Continental powered Cessna.

Nice video. The open ground looked a bit tight in places. nice touch splicing the ground video of approach and departure with the cockpit video.

This one was minus the go around, and on a slightly longer runway. He did a nice job putting it (dead stick) into traffic, though as traffic goes, it was pretty light.

Thanks.

I have seen that landing on the road before. Well done by the pilot for certain.

This, exactly!

I'm just dipping into the market for a work commuter (PAMR - PAKN) and am strongly considering an early 182. The more I see you get around, the less I want to spring for a 180.

Looks like a new headset, no?

Not fair with the "emergency" click bait!

Looks like you have the 182 jack-in-the-box rotate just about dialed in, congrats. Bring her out to Valdez this spring and show them how!

One small critique: during the short field soft field its best to walk your turnaround point so when you are approaching it in your bird on the downwind taxi there is no need to stop or even hesitate, just a nice smooth transition to full power as you come out of the turn.

That stop you did at the top of the strip might have cost you more then you have at the other end. I do a quick mag switch check and GUMP on the downwind before the turn. Also the reapplication of power there in the crosswind position is where the big rocks like to jump up into the leading edge of your prop to leave there signature calling card. Looks like you were more likely to fling bull shit on that strip though ;)

I love the 182. Bar none, best bang for the buck. I still have the itch for a Wagon, however.

The headset is kind of new.... Its my Bose Quiet comfort 2 with the UFlyMike Adapter. I am pretty happy with the setup. Had a bit of a wait because this version had never been in production until the end of last year. The guy who makes them had issues getting mfg set up.

I call it the A20 Lite.

Thanks Rocket. Maybe Ill make Valdez one year, just not this one.

On the critique, I know what you are saying. The issue that I had on the turnaround was the electric fence right off the nose. I was sliding in the mud and did not want to power through and swing wide and wrap the electric fence around the prop! I do like the power turn takeoff and keeping momentum up. Just couldn't do that on this one.

Thanks for the pointers. I always like hearing about different techniques.

I have the UFlyMike with my QC-15s. Great setup when I'm flying a Cessna or similar. The Maule is too noisy for it, sadly. When at 2500+ RPM, the poor thing has a breakdown. It can't accommodate the noise. Back off of it a bit, and it's fine.

Sure is a great addition to the Bose QCs, though, for majority applications!

I have the same issue on takeoff. Its like it can't handle the frequency.

After takeoff, all is good for the most part and I am happy.
