Eppley Airfield (KOMA) Question

I'm taking my 182 to Omaha next weekend - never been there. Anything special i need to know about the airport or the airspace around it? Is it busy?

thx.

The faster I go , the farther behind I get.

Re: Eppley Airfield (KOMA) Question

Landed there after dark back in July. Control told me there were 3,00ft agl towers off to my left, but I couldn't see them  . I could not get light plane maintenance on the field either. Dip stick line guy dropped a part of my fuel cap into the tank. Mechanics wouldn't touch it; only work on jets. There is another field on the west side of town. It's probably not as convenient, but might have a better attitude towards light planes. Seems to me that KOMA fuel was really expensive, too. Otherwise, it was a good stop.

I'm flying direct from Canada and unfortunately KOMA is the only one that has US Customs service. I see the towers on the map - thanks for the heads up.

Re: Eppley Airfield (KOMA) Question

After you check in to customs, you might consider hopping over to Millard. It's very GA friendly. You can also go to North Omaha, but on weekends it's pretty deserted, although there's upumpit gas at the south end--just walk to the convenience store for the key to the pumps. But do be aware of the towers--they're pretty high, although not 3000' AGL, maybe 600' at the most.

Re: Eppley Airfield (KOMA) Question

According the reviews on Airnav, Tac Air had really good reviews. Be a shame to go there, go through customs, and then go to another airport - especially with my hotel near KOMA

Re: Eppley Airfield (KOMA) Question

Do watch out for the USAF big iron--remember that although they get great training, some of the kids flying them are less experienced than many relatively new GA pilots.
