Erickson Dry Lake in Lucern Valley, CA

Anybody land on Erickson Dry Lake in the Lucern Valley in southern California. Seems there is a rocket launch the second weekend of June. May be down that way and may want to stop and watch other folks spend vast sums on a hobby.

I've never landed there I Googled Erickson and came up with this: http://www.rocstock.org/lucerne.html seems they call it Lucerne DL.
Looks like there's some endangered Tweekers living there maybe and BLM is determined to protect them from extinction.

Lucerne Dry Lake is not always dry, or not all of it is dry. Be careful if you land on it. Most of it is good, and you should almost always be able to find a place to land. But in the winter months when it has rained, you can be in "silt mud" if you are not careful.

The rocket boys out there have a roaring good time! There may be some partying going on, and you may not have to travel too far to find a couple of beers or a bottle of Scotch. Beware for your mortal souls, ye unwashed sinners!

The general rule in those areas is that the people who live out there are there because they don't want too many people around. There is an ever-increasing number of tweakers and meth lab trailers. But the majority are still just old-school desert rats.

There are also reportedly some areas out there with religious cults, nasty Manson types, and worse. The town of Landers, CA (not that far from Lucerne) had some reports of unsavory types that you wouldn't want to run into at night. These rumors and what not are from many years ago, so it may well be old information. Same goes for Ballarat dry lake up north nearer to Death Valley.
