Escalante, UT to Skagway, AK

Since Barnstormer has inspired me with his recent trip report, I am going to try and do a better job of picture taking and sharing the experience. The down side is that everyone my tire of the number of Alaska trip reports, but I'm willing to risk it. 8)

The proposed route as of now is Escalante, UT (1l7) ->Wells, NV (KLWL) -> Pendleton, OR (KPDT) -> Kamloops, BC (CYKA) -> Burns Lake, BC (CYPZ) -> Ketchikan, AK (PAKT) -> Skagway, AK (PAGY). From past experience, I doubt that this will end up being what I actually fly, but I have never had the opportunity to fly the coast yet, so I'm going to give it a shot. Looking to head out early Friday (5/27) and shooting for RON in Burns lake and finishing up Saturday, about 16 flight hours give or take 2 weeks, we'll see how that works out.

If you end up going the inland route and through Atlin, let me know. Short flight from here over the hill if the weather cooperates.

If wx diverts you west early in the trip, Mary Kaye will be playing at the Eureka Opera House 7:00 PM on Friday the 27th, and 3:30 PM, Sunday the 29th, at the Piper Opera House in Virginia City.

Chris, 82WN just NW of Spokane, have a bed and food!
If you need a place for the night.
Have fun!
Be carefull cuttin through the rocks to the coast, there are 2-3 ways through there, hope it's good enough to go over.
Watch out for outflow winds if you do go low and there is a low off shore!

Thanks Greg, always good to have options. Let me know when you are up that way, I love the Atlin, Teslin area, though I have never done more than fly over it. I'm looking forward to getting a chance to explore now that will essentially be in my backyard.

Thanks for the heads up, never know where I might end up.
