Exhaust fires and spark arrestors?
Share tips, techniques, or anything else related to flying.
Hello,
Has anyone ever heard of issues with exhaust starting fires when flying off dry grass fields?
Just doing some March pasture flying and didn't know if anyone had ever heard of a fire starting and if anyone had done anything to prevent such a thing.

I know of a couple of helicopters which started fires in tall grass, but I doubt any fixed wing airplane would be operating in grass deep enough to put the exhaust into contact with the grass.

...maybe while taxiing (as can be the case at one of my favorite not so super secret spots).
