Extented Baggage

Hello,

First of all, I love the Web sight.. Great Stuff !!!

My question is there were two places that had the Extended baggage kit for early 180,s etc.... Sellkirk has the fiberglass one and another place has an aluminum one more like the factory ones Cessna later installed, It seems like it was like Aero metal fabricators I can't find there Website, Any help would be greatly appreciated !!!!!

Not sure if it's what you're looking for, but Selkirk does have a metal kit as well: SA 59-100M.

It's more expensive than the fiberglass, but lighter.

I would recommend kit option #3 for the extended baggage from Selkirk and moving the battery to the firewall. I personally would not use the side panels with option #3. A nice battery kit is the one from EDM aircraft. We just finished one of these installations and it was smooth. The battery kit is complete and is a nice fit and saves you 20+pounds.

Bill from EDM aircraft is a frequent poster on here and he would have some valuable insight for you if you are interested in the route

I put the Selkirk extended baggage in my 182. Main problem is there's no trim to cover what you've now done. I had a friend make a white vinyl cover and then took it to an upholstery shop and had a couple Cessna logos embroidered on.

The outfit also had corrugated alum. for flaps & ailerons, and I think they had piece that went on the trailing edge to eliminate the sharp edge ( ie bleeding scalps, facial lacerations.etc...)

Their Extended baggage, it had a Piano hinge that ran down the middle, so you could easily access the Batt. and Elt on the other side..

Sorry I can't remember the name of this Outfit in the P.N.W....

Unfortunately, Selkirk only makes the extended baggage kit for some 180's and 182's. My 1966 is out in the cold.... :(

You need Extended Baggage Kit #4 for your 66. I had a 67 and they are identical.

On my last annual on my 1959 Cessna 182, my mechanic had to reskin my left upper flap skin. I had some cracks in the flap when I got the plane. He had just looked at them too long. When he reskined the flap he also installed the bulb that you mentioned. Besides protecting you forehead, it also stiffenes the trailing edge of your flap. Now I need to do the other one.

You're talking about Air Metal Fabricators. A buddy of mine has that mod in his 180, pretty cool.

Are you sure? My source of no joy is from Selkirk themselves...this past late June or early July.

Thanks, I must have spoken to the local idiot answering their phone or something. That is really strange. After being told what I was told, I never bothered with the website. I bet management wouldn't be happy about that call, now, would they. Now I have to start thinking about that mod again...lol.
