FAA wants us to re-register every 3 years.

FAA Finalizes Recurrent Aircraft Registration Rule
WASHINGTON, D.C. – In an effort to create a more accurate aircraft registration database, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is requiring re-registration of all civil aircraft over the next three years and renewal every three years after that.
The rule establishes specific expiration dates over a three-year period for all aircraft registered before Oct. 1, 2010, and requires re-registration of those aircraft according to a specific schedule. All aircraft registration certificates issued on or after Oct. 1, 2010 will be good for three years with the expiration date clearly shown.
“These improvements will give us more up-to-date registration data and better information about the state of the aviation industry,” said FAA Administrator Randy Babbitt.
Current regulations require owners to report the sale of an aircraft, the scrapping or destruction of an aircraft, or a change in mailing address, but many owners have not complied with those requirements.
Re-registration of all U.S. civil aircraft by Dec. 31, 2013 will enhance the database with current data derived from recent contact with aircraft owners. The new regulations also will ensure that aircraft owners give the FAA fresh information at least once every three years when they renew their registration. The FAA will cancel the N-numbers of aircraft that are not re-registered or renewed.
The schedule for re-registration and registration expiration is:

Certificate issued Certificate expires Re-registration required
(Any year)
March March 31, 2011 Nov. 1, 2010-Jan. 31, 2011
April June 30, 2011 Feb. 1 - April 30, 2011
May Sept. 30, 2011 May 1- July 31, 2011
June Dec. 31, 2011 Aug. 1- Oct. 31, 2011
July March 31, 2012 Nov. 1, 2011-Jan. 31, 2012
August June 30, 2012 Feb. 1- April 30, 2012
September Sept. 30, 2012 May 1- July 31, 2012
October Dec. 31, 2012 Aug. 1- Oct. 31, 2012
November March 31, 2013 Nov. 1, 2012-Jan. 31, 2013
December June 30, 2013 Feb. 1- April 30, 2013
January Sept. 30, 2013 May 1- July 31, 2013
February Dec. 31, 2013 Aug. 1- Oct. 31, 2013

All the makings of a well disguised hidden tax! Why don't we do it for the Kids or for the safety of our citizens. :^o It just seems to keep snow balling now. We can't stop it, the monster is too big.

Your N number expires in three? My medical expires every two and can be denied if I can't jump thru all the hoops. What hoops are coming down the road for this new rule, and worse yet my pilot license expires when I do. What if they accelerate that expiration date?

I recieved a re-registartion card for my C-172 a few weeks ago. It was simply put a stamp on the postcard and send it back to them if I still owned the plane.

Re: FAA wants us to re-register every 3 years.

This is just going to be a exuse for more fees

Best thing to do in a recession.... make the govt bigger and charge more taxes to a people that have less money??

OR

Decrease taxes by downsizing govt.

Here in the desert there are SOOOOO many county vehicles driving around and not all that many people live here, I mean I'm paying for those things WTF! Just like this Obama American recovery act BS, just had a quarter million dollar sign with the name of my town installed (right after I sent a check for my property taxes that was enough to buy a small car)

I was going to send my tri-annual thing back until I read "if any of the information has changed, send this back". My info was the same so I recycled the paper.

Re: FAA wants us to re-register every 3 years.

I copied this off an expanded description of the rule ( http://www.klgates.com/newsstand/detail ... ation=6555 ) along with a brief legal opinion.

Looks like you will be able to confirm and renew on line if nothing has changed:

"The new rules permit online re-registration and renewal, but only to the extent that no changes will be made to the information already on file with the FAA. Re-registration and renewal applications that report updates to registration information or are filed after the filing window closes must be made using the paper application."

$5 every 3 years is a lot less than $85 every year for my car. Don't get your panties in a wad about what "might" happen. It's too hard to predict the future, otherwise we'd all be winning the lottery.

Baloney is still baloney, no matter how thin you slice it.

Re: FAA wants us to re-register every 3 years.

Looks like Re-registration (Re-tax) may cost $45.00 and first time registration (1ST Tax) may be $135.00.

Watch out fools! Many of your taxes started as a free requirement then required money to pay for the requirement. Then more money to pay for the kids. then more money to pay for our safety. (Keep those terrorist out) This has played out over and over again and again with the same out come.

It's like a squirrel snare, each stupid squirrel runs through a hoop until you've caught 10 on the same log.

Fee, Fine, Penalty, Permit, Toll, Registration, License, Lets go on,how many words are there for tax?

Sorry to babble Christine but this does directly affect us. But it is a little political.

Re: FAA wants us to re-register every 3 years.

What if someone forgits for what ever reason and his N number gets cancled.
Could he get his number back or is he going to paint a new one on his plane.
It says that the number will be blocked for five years but didnt say it could still be used by the original owner(on reregistration), or if it was blocked for everyone.
