I was down at Sun 'n Fun a couple of weeks ago and in the Sport Plane area came across a 80% Fieseler Storch production plane that just entered the market.

I always thought this was a great plane but never expected to see one like this. It sells complete for $89K. Landing with flaps is 17 mph. Cruise is 95 mph. The spring above the tailwheel had to be a foot long!

This is no cross country plane but I can't help picture myself stooging around the patch in one of these!

It comes stock with a Rotax 912 but you can get other engines in it. Man, this looks like fun!

Looks like we share the same tastes! I am not sure what it is about these planes but I bet they would make great water ballon drop platforms!

Truly amazing airplane.

I was down at Polk City Florida a couple of years back, and went to Kermit Weeks air museum. They have days when the bring out some stuff from the back lot and fly it around the patch. I was fortunate enough to be there the day they flew the Storch. The actual German plane not a replica. All I could think of at the time, was how does it stay in the air that slow.

I would highly recommend if you get to Florida and in the area go to this Museum. Hang around for the back lot tour. I have never seen anything like it. Rows and stacks of Merlin, Rolls Royce, V-12s, Props, and parts that have no end. They had a British Lancaster Bomber just come in the day before I visited. In shipping containers. The A/P Guys were working on a "SPAD" Restoration. Great place to visit!

I was at the Weeks air museum in Febuary and will second what Skylane said, it is well worth anyones time. I did some float training with a guy who gets to fly some of the toys there. Tough job.

There's one at my airport for sale. Apparently, the guy who built it or had it built has wrecked it twice already and wants to get rid of it. Both accidents were his fault, or so I hear - hit a giant rock once (even too big for the bushwheels he has on it) and the other time he tried to turn too sharp after takeoff at really low airspeed from an airstrip that was at 7,000ft up already. I can find out more info if anyone is interested.

Amacbean, I'm guessing that you are not based at Camp Williams, so maybe you are at "Salt Lake City 2". Did I guess right? How long has the Storch been for sale? What is the asking price? Has it been repaired to flying condition? What engine is in the Storch? Many thanks! - Mike

mikemike - I'm actually based in Spanish Fork (U77). The storch has been restored to flying condition - I'll have to check on the details of the engine and other things. I'll be down there later today and tomorrow and Ill post the updated details.

Went down to the airport today and the Storch is gone. Nobody was around to ask, but I'll find out what happened to it. Maybe the owner decided to keep it anyway.
