Relax and have fun. Don't forget to start your timer at the FAF.

Also, don't forget to post back here the results! Good luck.

I used to think the brain was the best organ in the human body. Then I realized who was telling me that.

Good Luck! Getting the instrument rating is a major accomplishment.

I'm sure you're as sharp as can be right before your ride, so just relax and keep staying a couple of steps ahead of what's happening -- tuning your radios for the next thing (or the thing after that), briefing approaches out loud well ahead of time, etc.

A cold beer never tasted better than after my instrument ride! That checkride was also the last time I flew a nosewheel airplane. :D

Good luck!

Have fun! You pay for it so enjoy it! If i had any advice it would be "when in doubt, go around" doesn't apply to everything of course....you can never be faulted for going-around if you aren't established or comfy with the approach...lesson I learned a few times and just used on my type check ride a few weeks ago...

Don't forget that when you are cleared to land by the controller (examiner) don't do the procedure turn. Ask me how I know  . Watch your altitudes and needles. You'll do fine.

If and when you screw something up admit it, go missed approach and come around again. Also on the oral if you don't know the answer don't bs the examiner, let them know you know where to find the answer. Good luck! :D

If you make a mistake don't dwell on it. I've seen some people get so unhinged because of a small mistake that they screw up the whole rest of the ride. (usually doesn't
last long after that anyway)

ington6,

No words of wisdom here, just wishing you good luck and good flying.

I'm getting prepped to get the IFR rating myself - I recently completed the Sporty's IFR video course, and I'm getting my Cherokee fully IFR ready with some panel upgrades (Garmin GPS400W coupled with S-Tec autopilot) ... planning to start flight instruction soon.

So I'll be looking for words of wisdom from you after you pass your check ride! :D
